Questions

What exactly is the advance list?

The advance list is how Tokyo live houses work. Most shows have limited capacity (40–120 people). Getting on the advance list guarantees your spot and usually saves you ¥500–¥1000 vs. door price. Free users can request it for $10/show. Curated members get it for $5/show. Dedicated includes it; Trip Pass includes help for up to three shows.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Both Curated and Dedicated are month-to-month through Stripe. Cancel from your account or email us. Your access continues through the end of your billing period. No questions, no guilt trips.

I'm only visiting Tokyo for two weeks. Which plan?

The Trip Pass. It is $50 one-time for 5–8 personally selected shows across your dates, venue and ticket context, advance-list help for up to three shows, and one follow-up adjustment. Start with a free Trip Alert so we have your travel window.

What makes the curation worth paying for?

There are 400+ shows per month across Tokyo. Most aren't worth your limited time. We've been in this scene for 15 years through Kaala — we know which bands deliver live, which venues have the best sound, and which nights have the energy. Curated cuts the noise to signal.

How is this different from Tokyo Gig Guide or other listings?

We focus on underground music — not J-pop showcases, not tourist-friendly rock bars. Metal, hardcore, noise, free jazz, electronics, experimental. Underground is a stance, not a genre. We've been doing this since 2013 as Kaala. Our data comes from 40+ venue websites directly, updated daily. And we actually go to these shows.
