Questions
What exactly is the advance list?
On eligible shows, send a reservation request for free and pay the advance ticket price at the venue. Your request is not final until organizer confirmation. Ticket and drink charges are separate. Trip Pass still includes personal ticket guidance and reservation help for up to three shows.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Both Curated and Dedicated are month-to-month through Stripe. Cancel from your account or email us. Your access continues through the end of your billing period. No questions, no guilt trips.
I'm only here for two weeks. Which plan?
Trip Pass is $50 one-time for personal advice across your whole visit: the best-fit shows we find, where to stay, eat and drink, other experiences worth adding, practical venue and ticket context, advance-list help for up to three shows, and one follow-up adjustment. Start with a free Trip Alert. When we find shows we recommend, your email includes the option to buy Trip Pass. Your advisory is delivered within 48 hours of payment and is shaped to your actual trip rather than padded to a fixed recommendation count.
What makes the curation worth paying for?
There are 400+ shows per month on the calendar. Most aren't worth a limited night out. We've been in this scene for 15 years through Kaala — we know which bands deliver live, which venues have the best sound, and which nights have the energy. Curated cuts the noise to signal.
How is this different from Tokyo Gig Guide or other listings?
We focus on underground music — not J-pop showcases, not tourist-friendly rock bars. Metal, hardcore, noise, free jazz, electronics, experimental. Underground is a stance, not a genre. We've been doing this since 2013 as Kaala. Our data comes from 67 venue websites directly, updated daily. And we actually go to these shows.
