Music in Japan is the evolution of Kaala — 15 years of playing in bands, booking tours, promoting shows, and documenting Japan's underground music scene. We started as musicians who couldn't find reliable information about live shows in English. So we built it ourselves. First as a blog, then as a community, now as the most comprehensive platform for underground music in Japan.

This isn't a travel startup with a music angle. We've stood on those stages. We know the door staff at Earthdom and the sound engineer at Antiknock. We've booked international bands into basements across Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. We've been doing this since before anyone thought there was an audience for it.
