About

Technocracy is a thrash metal and crossover hardcore punk band from Osaka, Japan, formed in 2003. Operating on Guerilla Records, they sit squarely in the lineage of Japanese crossover that traces back through GISM and Outo -- bands that refused to choose between metal riffs and punk velocity. Osaka's hardcore scene has always had a harder, more confrontational edge than Tokyo's, and Technocracy channels that energy into a sound that splits the difference between Municipal Waste-style crossover thrash and raw Japanese hardcore punk. Information on the band is scarce by design -- they exist primarily in the live circuit and physical releases that circulate through Japan's DIY distro networks. Listed on Metal Archives under Thrash Metal/Crossover/Hardcore Punk, they remain active and continue to play shows in the Kansai region and beyond. In a scene where Osaka crews like UNHOLY11 and ReVERSE BOYZ are carrying the torch for Kansai hardcore, Technocracy holds down the thrashier end of that spectrum.
