Hat Trickers
Tokyo's droog-masked Oi! punk veterans â nearly three decades of Clockwork Orange-obsessed melodic street punk.
About
Hat Trickers have been stomping through Tokyo's punk underground since 1997, draped in the bowler hats, masks, and blood-stained whites of Kubrick's droogs. The A Clockwork Orange fixation is not just aesthetic â it is foundational. Alongside English Oi! punk and the influence of The Discocks, the film defines the band's entire identity: the look, the energy, the theatrical violence of their live shows, complete with smoke machines and red lighting. The band has weathered significant lineup changes over nearly three decades. Vocalist Kenji (Clockwork Kenji) is the sole original member in the current five-piece, which includes guitarists Y.A.S. and Fanta, bassist Kyoko, and drummer Moro.ko+. Their discography is anchored by two full-lengths â Ultra Punk Droogs (2003) and Clockwork Soldiers (2014) â plus a healthy stack of splits and singles, including a split 7" with Xero Fiction on Puke N Vomit Records. Hat Trickers are a legitimate name in the international Oi! circuit. They have toured Europe three times, including a 2010 run supporting the Misfits across Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Finland, and Norway. In Tokyo, they share bills with legends â a March 2026 gig at Earthdom has them alongside Death Side, Fuck on the Beach, and Terror Squad. Melodic by Oi! standards, vicious by anyone else's.
