CRY
Skull-shattering technical death metal from Yokohama with split-second precision and all-Japanese lyrics.
About
CRY is a technical death metal band from the Kanagawa region â Chigasaki, Fujisawa, Yokohama, and Sendai all claim members â formed in 2016 by drummer Yuichi Ishiguro. Ishiguro had been at this for years: he originally founded Breeding Corpse in Yokohama in 2000, which went through a hiatus and reformed in 2006 as Cry with Inhumanity before shortening to CRY. The current five-piece features members from fellow death metal act Inhuman Devotion and delivers modern tech-death that MetalSucks described as 'a fine example of modern death/grind with a focus on the technical without diluting any of the brutality.' Their debut full-length 壱 (Ichi) dropped January 19, 2021, and hit #2 on the weekly sales charts â a serious achievement for an underground death metal band. Over 30 nationwide tour dates followed, plus their own recurring event series 'INSANE' in Yokohama and Tokyo, which grew to draw 160 people by its 13th edition. The second album å¼ (Ni) arrived June 16, 2024, continuing their commitment to all-Japanese lyrics built around a theme of lamentation. The lineup is Kyosuke Kohira (vocals), Tomoyasu Yamaguchi (guitar), Akira Nishimoto (guitar), Shinichiro Go (bass), and Yuichi Ishiguro (drums). Their production is handled at Void)))Lab by engineer Ryuhi Inari. CRY sits at the sharp end of the current Japanese death metal wave â technically devastating, lyrically distinct, and building a real following through relentless gigging.
