BADUERYKAH (sometimes written as BADU ERYKAH) is a powerviolence or hardcore punk band operating out of the Tokyo/Yokohama area. The name appears to be a play on neo-soul artist Erykah Badu, but the music is about as far from neo-soul as it gets. The band has been spotted on bills firmly rooted in the Japanese powerviolence and grindcore circuit â a March 2026 Capitalist Casualties tribute show at Yokohama's El Puente alongside Floaters, King Kill, Leech, Screwed Up, Tom Rench, Unfair God, and WEEP, and an April 2026 appearance on a Hong Kong Fuck You Japan tour date with Analskullfuck, Fuck on the Beach, MUT, Serial Experiments, and Yenfor. Beyond these live appearances, BADUERYKAH has essentially no discoverable online presence â no Bandcamp, no Instagram, no press coverage. The company they keep on these bills tells you everything about where they sit sonically: deep in the powerviolence/grind end of the Japanese hardcore underground. More information needed.
