About

ANAKRINO is a Christian death metal/grindcore band from Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture, formed in 2024. They are one of the very few openly Christian extreme metal bands operating in Japan, a fact that makes them a genuine curiosity in a scene where the tag is almost unheard of. One known member is Mr. Rodrigo, who has connections to the Shizuoka-based Christian heavy metal band Imari Tones — he assisted Imari Tones at a church concert in Kakegawa in April 2024. Very little else is publicly available about ANAKRINO at this stage. They have a Metal Archives entry confirming their genre and location, and they appeared on a show bill at Bar El Puente in Yokohama alongside Worship Pain, Necrophile, Punhalada, Abizmo, and Kitsunevi. The Kaala Music Japan Underground Digest noted the writer was 'fully unaware' of the band prior to seeing them on that bill, placing them squarely in the emerging-act category. More info is coming as the band builds its presence. For now, file them under: new, extreme, and operating from an unusual intersection of faith and brutality in the Japanese underground.
